Close Selection Testimonial TreeTote

Clos Selection Testimonial TreeTote

- Close Selection was launched this year with the ambition of offering high-quality wines. What sets you apart in such a competitive market?
We have chosen to offer exceptional wines from small, often undiscovered producers in Burgundy and other regions of France, who are little or not represented in Switzerland. This positioning allows us to offer outstanding wines at very attractive prices, where the customer truly pays for the wine itself, not for the name.

To reassure our clientele, we have partnered with David Biraud, one of the world’s greatest sommeliers (Best Sommelier of France, Meilleur Ouvrier de France in Sommellerie, and Vice World Champion Sommelier). He personally validates each wine in our selection and has the right of veto.

- Are your clients sensitive to issues of traceability, responsible production, and sustainability in wine?
Our clients are very sensitive to these aspects, primarily because counterfeiting exists in the wine industry. That’s why we personally visit all our winemakers.
In addition, almost all of our partners practice organic or sustainable viticulture — a decisive criterion in our selection.
We have also chosen to sell our wines only by the case, not by the bottle, in order to avoid repackaging them in new materials.

- You chose TreeTote bottle bags to accompany your products. What motivated this choice?
We wanted a reusable and durable bag for our bottles, and naturally turned to TreeTote. Paper bags are not reusable, while cotton bags have a very poor carbon and water footprint.

- Do you plan to highlight the positive impact of these bags — for example, in terms of water savings or plastic reduction — in your communication?
We already do so by placing a message directly on the TreeTote, emphasizing its carbon neutrality and the 660 L of water saved compared to a cotton bottle bag. We also plan to highlight this in other communication materials, such as our newsletter and website.

- What is your vision for a more sustainable future in the world of wine?
The wine industry is undergoing a profound transformation, with a growing desire to produce in a more responsible and sustainable way. Climate change also represents a major challenge for the sector, as it disrupts harvests.
Our vision follows a reasoned approach that prioritizes quality over quantity — offering wines from responsible agriculture, packaged in sustainable materials and bags, and shipped by train for all deliveries outside of Geneva.
